July 2025 - Found Faithful
"Just because you're struggling does not mean you're failing." (Unknown)
"Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful." (1Corinthians 4:2)
It is so easy to get caught up in focusing on talent that we forget all about being faithful. Sometimes in life we are called to do things that we aren't necessarily good at; things that require more effort and less reward. For me, that's soccer. I love playing with my team on the soccer field. My problem? lack of coordination. I can know what to do and how to do it, but my body doesn't like to listen to my brain. This summer with the decision to put in the time and effort that my teammates deserve me to bring, came a few lessons on faithfulness. Regardless of how well I end up playing in the tournament, what's important is that I do my best to prepare to the best of my ability.
Faithful: Full of faith, trustworthy, and reliable; firm in adherence to promises or in observance of duty.
Faithfulness lessons:
1. A good attitude: "A bad attitude is like a flat tire. If you don't change it, you won't go anywhere." (Joyce Meyer) Your attitude determines your actions; your actions determine your destination. Every other area of your goal rides on your attitude. Faithfulness demands a good attitude.
2. Persistence under pressure: A faithful person does not quit under pressure. "If you don't have any enemies in life, you have never stood up for anything." (Winston Churchill) When you persist, you face obstacles: it's a good thing. Resistance makes us stronger. "What is hard today, will one day be your warm up." (Unknown) Faithfulness demands persistence.
3. Confidence: "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." (Philippians 4:13) Comfort zones are not always good. Learning to rely on God and keep moving forward brings a confidence like none other. If you are faithful even when it takes you out of your comfort zone, you will grow. Faithfulness produces confidence.
Faithfulness is not easy. Faithfulness is rewarding. Every goal you undertake may not produce the results you are hoping for, but faithfulness produces its own reward. Find the joy of faithfulness.
