June 2025 - I Die Daily
"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:13)
This verse is often thought of in context of dying physically, but there is more than one way to die. Often harder than dying and going to heaven, is dying to self. Dying to self takes a selflessness that can only be achieved with a God given love. This type of dying, however, is the one that will make the biggest difference in your life and the lives of those around you.
1. What does it look like? A willingness to give up your own desires in order to do what's best for others: Being willing tell a friend what is true rather than just what they want to hear. Being willing to set aside your entertainment in order to pray for your friend. Taking the time to study and learn what is right so you have the answers your friend needs. Being willing to stick to your standards instead of going along with what others are doing. Choosing right over easy.
2. How can it be done? It takes love. The true definition of love is found in 1Corinthians 13. Read it, memorize it, do it. Love seeks not her own. This isn't about you, it's about those you love most. You will have to be willing to set aside your personal desires to become the best you.
"Change happens when the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of change." (Tony Robbins) How afraid are you for those around you? Is it moving you to action? You have to be willing to make the choice today. "I die daily." (1Corinthians 15:31b)
"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:13)
