February 2025 - Revitalization

"Change is hard at first, messy in the middle, and gorgeous at the end." (Robin Sharma)

"And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." (Galatians 6:9)

January 12th, otherwise known as quitters day, is past. Did you make it? Are you still working on your New Years goals or did you join the crowd who failed? Or maybe you are working on your goals, but not at the level you'd like to. For the month of February let's review, revive, and refresh our goals.

1. Review: What goals have you stuck to, what have you abandoned, and what ones do you need to revamp. You don't know where you're going if you don't know where you are. One month can make a big difference in how your goals look. So make another date or block out a bit of time and review your goals.

2. Revive: What goals have you quite and why? Are they not good goals, or did you simply lose your way? If they are a good goal, work on adding them back in. As you work on reimplementing them into your life think about this idea from James Clear: "In theory, consistency is about being disciplined, determined, and unwavering. In practice, consistency is about being adaptable. Don't have much time? Scale it down. Don't have much energy? Do the easy version. Find different ways to show up depending on the circumstances. Let your habits change shape to meet the demands of the day. Adaptability is the way of consistency." Most goals that we quite on are habit goals: things that take consistency over a long period of time. So when including them back into your schedule, focus on getting your reps in while still being adaptable to your daily needs.

3. Refresh: What goals have you been consistent with that could use a refresh? Maybe you goal has been to get up on time, but you are lacking sleep because you aren't going to bed when you should. This month focus on continuing to get up, but add in a proper bed time. Or you are doing more reading, but it hasn't been the best books. Work on implementing a few new authors or genres. Focus on taking your good and making it great.

As Max Depree says, "We cannot become what we want by remaining what we are." "The secret to change is focusing all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new." (Socretes) Review. Revive. Refresh.

"And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." (Galatians 6:9)
