August Monthly - Let's Do Something
Let's use this next chapter to do something new. Trust me, it will be fun. When is the last time you did something that you've always wanted to do: Go to an upscale restaurant? Check out your first book from the library? Randomly take an unexpected detour for a fun stop? Well this is the month we get to do it.
We grew up with so many books at home, (over 3,000:) that my parents did not allow us to check books out at the library. (too much risk of us making a stupid decision and reading something we shouldn't) So I, having gotten my library card, checked out my first book this month. You don't have to do anything dramatic, just do something you've never done before. (But if you're like me you'll think, 'Let's go big, or go home':)
You can do something you've always wanted to do, like check out a book. Or, you can do something that you don't want to do, in order to get to the something you've always wanted to do. For me, that looked like learning to use handle brakes on a bike. I grew up riding bikes that only had peddle brakes and had no desire to ride anything with handle brakes. However, when your parents get electric bikes that only come with handle brakes, you learn to use them very quickly;)
Whatever you end up doing, remember 1Corinthians 10:31, "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." Do it in a way that glorifies God. And remember, don't do it half way; 'if something is worth doing, it's worth doing right.' So if you go to check out your first book, why not check out 6. (Yup. Guilty. :)
