December Monthly - The Reason for the Season

I'm not sure about you, but with my sister's wedding in the first week of December, the holiday season, and getting ready to head to college, November was crazy. My original plan was to read 4 educational books, but by the third week I knew I wouldn't be able to fit it all in and switched it around to 2 fun, 2 educational. But that's the beauty of a challenge, right? Everyone can fit it to what they need.

With the Christmas season finally here no one can scold me for listening to Christmas music anymore:) I love the Christmas spirit: all of the traditions, the music, the giving of gifts, and the whole reason for the season: Christ's coming. My challenge to you this month is to set aside all of the clammer and rush of the season and simply make the most of the time you have. Let's choose 5 to 10 Christmas ideas and spend some time with family and friends enjoying the season.  Decorating, baking, Christmas music, buying, making, and wrapping gifts, spending time in the snow, stringing popcorn and cranberries, making paper snowflakes, watching Christmas movies, reading Christmas books, enjoying family, and celebrating our Savior's birth. There's so much you can do to fully appreciate the season. With all of the technology nowadays, it's simple to make a list and place it where you will remember to look at it every day. Use your phone, computer, maybe a paper list on your fridge or calendar; do it with your kids, siblings, friends, class... There are so many options. I absolutely love making To Do lists and getting to check off the boxes, so I stuck to my typical Apple notes.

While you celebrate this wonderful season, don't forget the reason for the season. "And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord." Luke 2:10-11 Enjoy your traditions, have fun with your family, but most importantly, share the good news... "And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child." Luke 2:16-17
