October 2024 - I'm Possible
"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." (Philippians 4:13)
How often in a day do you hear or say, "I can't"? Life is hard. Doing right is hard. The more God convicts me about, the more I realize how hard life is. But hard is not impossible. God says multiple times throughout the scriptures, "With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible." How are you limiting God in your life simply because it is hard?
1. I Can't: What are you saying I can't to today? Valedictorian, the dream job, day-to-day obligations, soloist, full time ministry, getting up on time, your own business? Take a day (or week) and note down every time you say or think "I can't."
2. I Want: Once you know what you're saying no to, what do you want to say yes to? The opportunities are endless, so what's your wildest dream? God gave us dreams for a reason. When we give those desires back to Him one of two things will happen: He either changes our desires to fulfil His will, or He brings them to fruition. In Psalm 37:4 He says, "Delight thyself also in the Lord; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart." So make a list of all the dreams and desire you have. A good, detailed way to do this is to create a vision board like was challenged in August.
3. I will: Start praying. But like the quote I heard today, Let your prayers have feet. Ecclesiastes 5:3b says, "For a dream cometh through the multitude of business;" God wants us to take the next right step, and do the next right thing. All through Proverbs God talks about the slothful and how his own laziness will destroy him. In comparison, the diligent is told he will be blessed. So be proactive. Take your list, pray over it daily, and start taking steps to accomplish them. And remember, baby steps count.
4. God Can: With God impossible becomes I'm possible. "What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8:31) "Ah Lord God! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:" (Jeremiah 32:17) "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." (Philippians 4:13) When you pray and seek God's will, He will direct you in the right path. And soon, your impossible will be rewritten to I'm possible.
Sometimes God will allow your dreams to come to pass, and sometimes He will change them. But no matter what the end results are, you will be able to look back at the end of your life and know that you have no regret over a missed opportunity. Stop saying, "I can't." Start saying, "Through Christ, I can."
